I’m an internationally published writer with an MA (Distinction) in Creative Writing (Prose) from The University of East Anglia.
I’ve written for The Observer Magazine, Grazia and MSlexia magazines and have been featured at the Edinburgh Internatuional Book Festival, UEA's Norwich Fly Festival, The City of Children's Literature Festival and The Federation of Children's Book Groups annual conference.
I’ve been Mentor on National Centre for Writing's Escalator programme for new writers and was selected by NEU (National Education Union) to be a keynote speaker.
I work with writers of all genres in the UK and the US. If your books are character driven I will help you find the heart of your book.

I work with writers of all genres, lengths of fiction and memoir to help shape and build their work.
This includes new writers, established writers and writers looking to take their writing more seriously.
This also includes traditionally and self-published writers, those who are writing memoir purely for family, and those who are still deciding.

I create bespoke services that match each writer’s needs based on where they are on their writing journey.
I have 20 years experience of the publishing industry as an internationally published writer and editor for adults and children.
All my services come with an hour Zoom where we can go even deeper into written notes, all included in the price.
I charge a fair price based on the work I do, not on my reputation as a published author.
Clients say I boost their confidence and help them get to the heart of their story.

There is a page on my site that shows full length testimonials but some extracts include:
“…really seemed to get my writing in a way that felt transformative to my process.”
“…Hayley's approach to editing is kind, warm, but also exceptionally thorough.”
“…found her notes on my novel to be brilliant, useful, imaginative and encouraging.”
“…The proof of this approach is that my newly edited MS gained me a great agent!”
"…she understands the challenges and what you are aiming for, has brilliant, insightful suggestions and most importantly, is wonderfully supportive…”
“…provided insights and posed questions which helped me to really think about and refine my characters and my structure, ”
“…was a brilliant mentor and gave me a HUGE boost in the early stages of my picture book writing”
“..is by far the most intuitive editor I’ve ever worked with.”

I read each manuscript three times and the first time I make no notes and read it purely as a reader.
The no written notes by me option where you write up our Zoom conversation can be as little a £250 for a whole novel.
Every writer who’s worked with me on developing their first three chapters has been asked for the whole manuscript by agents.
Some writers hire me to read their books and write their synopsis as they find that the hardest bit.
Some writers hire me to edit as they write the first draft, submitting three chapters at a time and a discussion via Zoom.
I have developmental edited several series by self published writers.
